Mission Statement

To develop a comprehensive program for the aging Asian community of DFW with the support and assistance of mainstream or Asian and non profit organizations and government agencies to improve services for seniors and enhance their quality of life.  The program will seek funding and program support or co-sponsorship with area public agencies, private/corporate partnerships, and community organizations.

Sub-committee Chairs:
All Asians already in related business/profession and/or co-chairs appointed by chair.
Members:
All volunteers that wish to join, especially those representing senior Asian groups.

Sub-committees

Alternative Health Care Sub-Committee

Identify providers of alternative care such as acupuncture, reflexology, health and wellness supplements, and compile list Invite them to make presentations at next conference, purchase booths or be sponsors.

Centennial International Village project Sub-Committee

Develop “dream senior center”, architectural plans, project development A to Z

Communications/PR Sub-Committee

Coordinate press releases, press packages, photography, website

Home Care & Assisted Living Sub-Committee

Identify Asian service providers and compile list by city of service and ethnic language spoken

Medical Research for Seniors Sub-Committee

Identify, coordinate, and advise on subject.

Professional Services Sub-Committee

Identify and compile list of medical professionals (e.g. doctors) , service groups (e.g. nursing association), programs (e.g. free clinic) in Asian ethnic groups of DFW

Program Sub-Committee

Plan details and logistics for 3rd conference or Senior Committee Action Plan Goal #4 (see attached)

Quality of Life Sub-Committee

Identify centers and programs (e.g. yoga, mahjong, dancing, haha clubs etc.) that can enrich the lives of seniors and compile list

Senior Independence Thru Technology Sub-Committee

Identify adaptive devices to keep seniors independent, compile list, invite them as sponsors/exhibitors to 3rd conference

Senior Insurance/Legal Documents/Finance Sub-Committee

Identify tools and programs , organize workshops for future programs and panel for 3rd conference

Senior Protection Sub Committee

Advise senior groups how to protect themselves, coordinate any presentations on safety, refer assistance

Sponsorship Sub-Committee

Obtain sponsors for 3rd conference. Develop letters of invitation, sponsorship menu, list of potential desirable donors

Translation Sub-Committee

Coordinate translation of materials into Asian ethnic languages with help of Community Representatives

  • Current documents; Senior Source services, Health Reform Overview, how To Age Gracefully
  • Formulate a multi Asian language health handbook e.g. English/Chinese “I hurt here”, “I am dizzy” etc.

Volunteer Sub-Committee

Organize, coordinate and compile lists of volunteers as referred by all above, identify volunteer opportunities with Senior Source
