This event is significant for the Taiwanese American community and for the city of Addison, which was selected to be the host city of this event. Taking place will be the TCCNA’s second board meeting of 2009. That in and of itself may not sound exciting, but the TCCNA represents more than 3,500 Taiwanese business members in all of North America. All together, its member businesses have provided more than 50,000 jobs in their respective communities, which represents a large workforce in North America. The event is expecting to draw almost 1,000 attendees from around the country, which also helps to raise the visibility of Addison and the Dallas Fort Worth area as a whole. This Taiwanese-American community, while dispersed around the country, is united and inter-connected. For instance, for the recent August 8th Flood Disaster Relief Fund, the TCCNA was able to raise more than $800,000 to help provide aid to folks in need in Taiwan impacted by the floods. Lastly, a fact worth noting this year, is after 22+ years in operation, the TCCNA is currently being presided over by its first female leader. Kico Lin (the mother-in-law of Addison Mayor Joe Chow) is the 2009-10 President of the TCCNA.
The event concludes with the Gala Night, which will feature performances by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, WaterTower Theater, a renowned Michael Jackson Impersonator (Pete Carter), and the California Line Dance Association of America (CLDAA). A few photos attached.
Prior to the Gala Night, during the day, the TCCNA has invited/secured very high-profile business leaders to come and shed their insights and educate the attendees of the event. Keynote seminar speakers include the CEO of Blockbuster (James Keyes), VP with Mary Kay (Rhonda Shasteen), and CEO of Sewell Lexus (Carl Sewell) and many more.
